Hartmut Siebert

Head of Polymers Business, Sulzer


Hartmut Siebert is the head of polymer business, polymer EMIRA and AME at Sulzer Chemtech Ltd within polymer and crystallization since November 2021. Polymer technologies within his responsibility are polystyrene (PS) polymerization, extrusion of expanded polystyrene (EPS), extrusion based expanded polypropylene (ePP), XPET foam extrusion technology, polymer melt cooler SMRTM, static mixers, SMX(L)TM, advanced polymer devolatilization technology (DEVO) and solvent based polymer recycling. Within Siebert`s organization sales management, project management for the related technologies and region front sales in India are executed.

Previously Siebert held various management roles in the business line performance additives at Clariant in Muttenz. Prior to Clariant, Siebert was technology licensing manager at Borealis in Linz, steering licensing projects and the interface to the joint venture Borouge.

Prior to Borealis, Siebert was manager product development & application at Lummus Novolen Technology in Mannheim. Prior to that Siebert was product development manager for Ziegler-Natta and Metallocene polypropylene at Targor and Basell in Ludwigshafen.

Siebert holds a PhD in polymer chemistry from the institute for macromolecular chemistry, Freiburg, Germany and a M.S. in innovation management from LIMAK Austrian business school, Linz.

Siebert is director board of directors (BOD) of the polymer modifiers and additives division (PMAD) of the society of plastics engineers (SPE) since June 2018.
